Who I am
I’m André Coelho, a Brazilian graphic designer based in New York. For over 15 years, I’ve been using creative thinking to turn strategic insights into visual narratives that help brands come to life.

What I do
I work in two ways—as a hands-on creative and as a design leader, guiding the creative direction of projects across brand identity, art direction, editorial, packaging, and digital. I’ve partnered with a wide range of clients, from art institutions and charities to lifestyle brands and tech companies. Notable clients include Google, Nike, Heineken, Inhotim, Natura, FIFA, and the International Olympic Committee.

Where I’ve been
I’ve built my career across Brazil, England, and the US, gaining experience in both studios and in-house teams. I’ve worked at studios like DesignStudio, Wolff Olins, and Pentagram, and held in-house roles at Calm and Allbirds, helping shape creative initiatives.

↓ More about my journey

I'm a designer focused on branding and design systems, with experience spanning small studios, large agencies, and in-house teams. I began my career at Hardy Design in my hometown, Belo Horizonte, and went on to work in São Paulo at Tátil Design—contributing to the Rio 2016 brand—and at Bola Design, part of strategic consultancy Box1824. In 2011, I joined Marina Willer’s team at Wolff Olins in London after winning a design competition, and returned in 2014 to work at Pentagram. In 2015, I became a partner at Hardy Design, co-leading the studio and Estufa—an in-house creative agency for Inhotim, Brazil’s largest contemporary art museum—alongside Mariana Hardy. In 2018, I moved to San Francisco, where I joined DesignStudio as a Design Director and worked alongside James Hurst and Andrea Trabucco-Campos. More recently, I worked in-house at Calm and Allbirds, leading brand and creative work across multiple initiatives. Now based in New York City, I’m exploring new opportunities to apply my experience to meaningful, creatively ambitious projects.
